Types of Services
Desert Sage Health treats children as young as five, adolescents, adults and older adults. We facilitate individual therapy, family therapy, couples/ marriage therapy and group therapy. If we feel we cannot meet your needs we work with several providers in the valley to ensure our clients receive the services they need and deserve.
We complete psychological testing designed to assess current symptomology, as well as, personality characteristics. This testing allows you to have a better understanding of the severity of your symptoms and allows for more detailed treatment recommendations and treatment planing.
Our providers are trained in several approaches allowing them to utilize what works best for the client. Our common approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Behavioral Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR).
Each of our evaluations include a detailed report with clinical recommendations and a feedback session.
Our Autism Evaluations consists of a clinical interview, several questionnaires, and one on one assessments to identify a thorough picture of you or your child and determine if the diagnostic criteria (DSM-5TR) for an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is met. Areas of functioning assessed include, speech/language development and current ability, flexibility with change, sensory concerns, interpersonal skills, developmental milestones, intellectual abilities, daily living skills, executive functioning, presence of fixations, presence of repetitive or stereotyped behavior, and mental health. Our group of tests were selected to meet insurance requirements, including Tricare.
Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Evaluations:
Much like our Autism evaluations, our ADHD evaluations consists of a clinical interview, questionnaires, and additional testing to determine if diagnostic criteria for an ADHD diagnosis is met. We use a combination of assessments that assess inattentiveness, impulsivity, sustained attention and vigilance. We provide evaluations for children as young as 5-years-old through adulthood.
Our educational evaluations are a combination of an interview and a battery of assessments that can determine the presence of a learning disability, such as dyslexia, dyscalculia and/or dysgraphia, as well as intellectual functioning. This evaluation will provide specific recommendations based on diagnosis to aid in assisting with accommodations and services to aid in a successful experience in the school and/or work environment. (*Please note that the majority of insurance companies will not cover testing for the sole purpose of determining a learning disability).
Our psychological evaluations focus on identifying an overview of current mental health. We use a group of assessments that measure a variety of behaviors and symptoms, as well as, a personality assessment. These assessment are paired with a clinical interview. We provide psychological evaluations for ages 5 through adulthood.
Most of our evaluations are completed by a team of professionals that have a variety
of experience. Stefanie Kool, Psy.D. supervises all evaluations and has long history of experience with psychological evaluations, neuropsychological evaluations, educational assessments, Autism evaluations and ADHD evaluations.
Amanda Plourde, Ed.S., NCSP is a School Psychologist who has an extensive history working in the school systems completing a variety of evaluations to ensure children's needs were being met in the school setting. She now uses her skills and experience to conduct most of our Child Evaluations. Additional information about Amanda can be found at EducateMindz.
