At Desert Sage Health, we believe it’s important to recognize and express deep gratitude for the extraordinary sacrifices made not just by military service members, but by their families as well. Too often, the dedication and resilience of military families go unnoticed, yet they serve and sacrifice right alongside their loved ones in uniform.
Military spouses and children face a lifestyle of constant transition. Every two to three years, they uproot their lives—moving to new cities, adapting to different schools, jobs, communities, and support networks. These frequent relocations come with emotional and logistical challenges that most civilian families rarely encounter.
Deployment brings another level of hardship. Spouses often take on the primary responsibility of managing the household and caring for children during deployments that can last six to twelve months, in addition to shorter periods of temporary duty assignments (TDY) or extended training sessions. During these times, they must navigate daily life with strength and grace, all while carrying the heavy emotional burden of worry for their deployed loved one.
Additionally, every move typically involves switching healthcare providers, including mental health professionals, which can disrupt care continuity and impact overall well-being. According to the 2021 Military Family Lifestyle Survey Comprehensive Report, 43% of military parents reported that at least one child in their family experienced mental health rated as “fair,” “poor,” or “very poor.” These numbers underscore the importance of understanding and addressing the unique needs of military families.
Supporting military families requires more than appreciation—it demands awareness, compassion, and action. At Desert Sage Health, our team brings extensive experience working with active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. We are honored to walk alongside these incredible individuals, providing care that respects their unique experiences and challenges.
To all military families: thank you. Your strength, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment do not go unnoticed. We see you, we support you, and we are here for you.
